What’s Really Inside a Mrs G’s Mystery Box

I keep getting asked the same question: “But what’s actually IN it?” Fair question. You’re handing over your money for a box you can’t see inside, so a bit of healthy curiosity makes total sense.

Here’s my honest answer: I’m not going to tell you exactly what’s in it — but I am going to tell you exactly how I decide, and why I think that’s actually the fun part.

It starts with the shelf. I don’t have a warehouse of “mystery box fillers” tucked away somewhere. Every single thing that goes into a box is something that’s already sitting on the emporium shelves, priced to sell on its own. If I wouldn’t happily put it in the shop at full price, it doesn’t go in your box. That’s really the whole rule.

This autumn, that’s meant candles that smell like cinnamon and woodsmoke, gonks and burners with a bit of witchy charm, mugs that make a Tuesday morning feel a little more special, and the odd statement piece I’ve fallen a bit in love with myself. If I’m excited about something new that’s landed, there’s a good chance it’ll end up in someone’s box before it even makes it properly onto the site.

Three sizes, three moods

Right now there are three ways to get a bit of emporium magic delivered:-

**Little Pick-Me-Up (£20)** — small, always built around a candle or home fragrance, for when you (or someone you love) just needs a lift.

**Treat Yourself (£28)** — the one most people choose, always with a mug, a candle and a keepsake at its heart.

**The Big Mystery (£37)** — the full experience, always including one proper statement piece, wrapped and ready to give.

Whichever one you pick, you can tell me the vibe you’re leaning towards — pastel and pretty, cosy and candlelit, a bit witchy, or something for the little ones — and just as importantly, tell me anything you’d rather I steered clear of. I can’t promise exactly what lands in the box, but I can promise I’ll listen.

Why I do it this way

Honestly? Because I love it. There’s something genuinely joyful about putting a box together for a stranger and imagining their face when they open it. It’s the closest thing I get to handing someone a gift myself, even when I’ve never met them. And selfishly, it means every box is a little bit different, which keeps things interesting for me too, No two Tuesdays look quite the same.

Every product photo on the mystery box listings shows example contents — genuinely things that have gone into real boxes — but your box will vary.
